TOKYO — Japan will encourage other Asian countries to adopt its cold chain logistics standards in hopes of giving an edge to its own shipping companies and food exporters in markets where demand for refrigerated transportation is on the rise.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in December adopted a set of standards for cold chain logistics based on Japan’s domestic standards. These cover all stages of the supply chain, from the production or import site down to the retailer or restaurant buying the food.
