Marc Skinner claims he would love to sign a new deal at Man United Women – Man United News And Transfer News

Date:

Manchester United Women’s boss Marc Skinner has claimed that he wants to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

The former Birmingham City Women coach joined United in 2021. The Red Devils have undoubtedly made great progress under the Englishman as they won their first piece of silverware last season when they lifted the FA Cup at Wembley.

They also find themselves second in the league after a stellar campaign so far and they are also in the semi-final stage of the cup, looking to return to Wembley for the third time in a row.

The women have a crucial fixture tonight when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in league.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, carried by the BBC, the manager claimed that he wanted to stay at the club for a long time.

Skinner’s contract at United expires at the end of the season but they have until the end of March to trigger a one-year extension. They could also negotiate a new deal once that deadline passes.

Commenting on the issue he stated, “I’d love to stay. I feel there is unfinished business.”

“We’ve designed and built this young team and I feel like it has the imprint, the DNA, of a really famous United team in the making.”

The 41 year old also asserted that he has the energy to see the job through and take United to new levels they have not reached before.

“From last year my energy has changed in a completely positive direction. It’s all about driving this club forwards.”

“I want to stay and make sure we reach the successes I think this club can do. I love being at this club and I think it’s a magnificent club, the best in the world.”

Ahead of the crunch tie versus Liverpool he also provided some team news by stating that Jayde Riviere, Elisabeth Terland and Lisa Naalsund are all in contention to play after recovering from injury but Simi Awujo is still out of contention with an ankle problem.

He also talked up the prospect of playing at Anfield instead of Liverpool Women’s usual ground of the Totally Wicked Stadium.

“We’ve got to battle the spirit of the game. We’ve got to be on top form. It’s a great challenge for us,” he said.
