Japanese joint venture to supply green jet fuel to Taiwan’s EVA Air

Date:

TOKYO — Saffaire Sky Energy, a joint venture between Japan’s Cosmo Oil and engineering company compatriot JGC Holdings, will supply domestically produced sustainable aviation fuel to Taiwan’s EVA Air from fiscal 2025 under a recently announced agreement.

This SAF will be the first in Japan to be produced at scale using waste cooking oil. SAF emits significantly less greenhouse gases than conventional aviation fuel. Its introduction is drawing attention as an important initiative in the aviation industry toward a goal of net-zero carbon dioxide emissions from airline operations by 2050.
