Nippon Steel made new U.S. Steel proposal to Trump administration

TOKYO — Nippon Steel made a new proposal to the Trump administration regarding its plan to acquire U.S. Steel, Nikkei has learned, possibly influencing what U.S. President Donald Trump said following his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Washington on Friday. 

Details of the proposal have not been revealed, but sources say it appears to include an increased investment in U.S. Steel.
