TOKYO — With travel out of Japan slow to recover amid a weak yen, ANA Holdings and Japan Airlines are shifting focus beyond their home market to appeal to a more global audience.
JAL is launching a business partnership with Garuda Indonesia in April, collaborating on fares and scheduling for international flights and even sharing some of their earnings. The carriers already operate code-sharing flights, but agreed in October to expand their cooperation despite belonging to separate airline alliances: JAL to Oneworld, and Garuda to SkyTeam.
