GUANGZHOU — China’s biggest trade fair opened Tuesday under the shadow of steep U.S. tariffs, with high participation figures signaling an accelerating drive by exporters to seek alternative markets.
A record 30,000 exporters were taking part in the Canton Fair in the southern city of Guangzhou, according to local media. Meanwhile, more than 200,000 overseas buyers had registered as of Sunday, up from 144,000 at the same point last year.
