Japanese department store uses online solution to tackle long lines

Date:

TOKYO — Japanese department store Matsuya Ginza is looking to reduce long queues by using an e-commerce website where inbound customers traveling to the country can order products in advance and pick them up in-store when they arrive in Japan.

When a customer traveling to Japan visits a service counter on the fourth floor of its store in the upscale Ginza district of Tokyo, they can pick up items such as fragrances they have ordered in advance on matsuyaginza.com without having to wait in line in front of each brand shop or going through tax-free procedures.
