JD Vance rips globalization, calling cheap labor a ‘drug’

WASHINGTON — Relying on cheap offshore labor has hurt innovation in the U.S. and let rival nations catch up, U.S. Vice President JD Vance argued Tuesday in a speech on President Donald Trump’s economic policy.

Vance said that past American administrations had “two conceits” about globalization — the belief that design and manufacturing could be separated, and that cheap labor was beneficial.
