Manchester United leading transfer race to sign Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo – Man United News And Transfer News

Date:

Manchester United are reportedly the “current front-runners” to land Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo in the upcoming window.

United are expected to be busy this summer, with the attacking department especially in need of urgent bolstering. The Red Devils have struggled for goals this season, only managing 38 in the Premier League. Only Everton, West Ham, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton have found the back of the net fewer times.

Ruben Amorim’s side continue to be linked to a host of attackers, and one whose name features prominently is Semenyo.

Semenyo is enjoying a brilliant campaign with Bournemouth, who are currently eighth in the Premier League and fighting to clinch European football.

The Ghanaian has played a key role for the Cherries, scoring an impressive eight goals and providing an additional five assists in 31 top-flight appearances. He has notched 10 goals in 36 matches across all competitions.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are ready to spend big to lure Semenyo to Old Trafford.

More recently, the reliable David Ornstein explained that Amorim “is very fond” of Semenyo and retains a huge admiration for the player. But, United are not the only club chasing him. The likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be eyeing him.

Now, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has given an update, indicating that United are leading the race to land Semenyo.

It’s understood that Amorim already “has ideas about how to deploy him in a new-look attack next season.” Thomas explains that every top-six club apart from Arsenal have “shown some interest” in the 25-year-old.

Sky add, “Bournemouth will not give up Semenyo lightly and are understood to value him as high as £70m.”

“However, the structure of a deal remains undefined and could include a lower fixed fee with add-ons, similar to the £65m deal Bournemouth did with Spurs for Dominic Solanke last summer.”

United’s efforts to secure Semenyo’s signature could be boosted by the anticipated permanent exits of Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
