Yen mostly flat as BOJ holds rates steady as expected

TOKYO — The Japanese yen was largely flat to the dollar around noon Wednesday after the central bank left interest rates unchanged at the end of the two-day policy meeting as expected.

The yen continued trading in the mid-149 level after the policy decision. The benchmark Nikkei Stock Average and the broader Tokyo Stock Price Index rose modestly by 0.69% and 1.05%, respectively, in morning trading that closed shortly after the rate decision.
